Mental & Emotional Health Services

BridgePoint Health is committed to being responsive to the needs of our patients/clients and referral sources. Our multidisciplinary team of professionals provides comprehensive and timely services that ensure continuity of care. Patients are matched with clinical staff who have expertise or specialized training in the treatment of their specific presenting problem or concern.

Psychiatric and Psychological Evaluations
BridgePoint Health provides comprehensive, individualized evaluations for patients of all ages, childhood to older adults. These services include clinical diagnostic interviews, administration and interpretation of psychological tests, patient feedback sessions, and detailed reports of interview findings, test results, and treatment recommendations.

The initial evaluation is designed to determine the appropriate level of behavioral health care and the selection of appropriate treatment procedures. Inpatient consultations may be scheduled for patients at St. Nicholas Hospital

Counseling and Psychotherapy
Clinical services may involve individual, marital/couples, and/or family therapy. We also provide a variety of group therapy programs which may be used either as a primary form of treatment or as an adjunct to other forms of treatment. Treatment may also include the use of medication prescribed by psychiatrists. If a patient being treated with medication is also involved with another form of therapy, medication management services are coordinated with ongoing psychotherapy.

Psychiatry
While psychiatrists can diagnose and treat any psychological problem, certain problems have a specific biological basis that requires the attention of a psychiatrist. Problems that include sever symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, delirium, or mania, and certain forms of depression and anxiety, as well as attention problems and hyperactivity are come common examples. Comprehensive follow-up involving medication management and laboratory testing are an integral part of our psychiatric services.

Our psychiatrists work closely with other clinical staff in an effort to coordinate treatment services for patients of all ages.

Behavioral Medicine Program
The Behavioral Medicine Program is a specialty program of BridgePoint Health. It has been established that psychological treatments are an important part of the total care of patients with many medical illnesses. Many medical problems involve cognitive or behavioral factors in their development, or require cognitive or behavior change in their treatment. This program was to meet the needs of patients seen in a general medical or medical specialty practice who present with the following concerns:

  1. Psychological symptoms which are secondary to a medical condition (e.g. anxiety or depression).

  2. Physical complaints or concerns representing non-medical conditions (e.g. panic).

  3. Medical conditions having a behavioral treatment component (e.g. essential HTN).

  4. Psychophysiological Disorders (e.g. tension headaches, insomnia).
